It would be great to pin a playlist, collection, artist, album, etc to a section of the home screen
You can pin a collection.
Just catching up on this one, although Otto had immediately replied.
You can basically go to many of the sections of the Library tab, filter it to your liking and publish that filtered view to the Home Screen.
This works for artists, albums and tracks… all existing collections have the option to be published „built in“.
Views like artist/album/track genres, styles, moods and record labels are basically also predefined filtered views of your library… so while you cannot publish a genre, you can publish its content (the list of artists/albums/tracks matching that genre).
Does this cover what you were suggesting?
Thanks for taking the time to reply!
I was hoping something could be added in Plexamp. I don’t see any way to add anything to the home screen on Plexamp.
I think the Plex app might do what you said though.
What version of Plexamp do you have installed on your system?
With the latest version you can organize what hubs are displayed, in which order/sequence and how (e.g. as list, grid or carousel hubs) in Settings > Experience > Home Screen.
Here’s an example of how to add some of the content from your library to the Home Screen (using a filtered album view):

Thank you for this. I didn’t know about it and it helps me get some playlists on the home screen that I listen to frequently.
I think it would still be great if there was a “pinned” section on the home screen with the ability to add pins from all (or a lot of) the different areas of the UI.
I have some playlists of songs that I am learning on guitar and like to practice and I would pin that playlist. I would also like to pin my wife’s playlist so it’s easy to get when she is in the car with me. Pin the workout music thing. Etc etc
There is already a Recent Playlists hub, which contains the playlists you played recently.
Thanks, I did see that. When I play different playlists, the one I would like to quickly access does not show up there anymore because it gets bumped off the list.
I appreciate everyone being helpful finding workarounds that work differently depending upon the media or location, it really is helpful. This topic was created as a feature suggestion for a way to pin/favorite some type of media (playlist, artist, collection, mood, track, album, composer, whatever) that will stay in the list of pinned/favorited stuff until the user decides to un-pin/un-favorite it.
In the spirit of „alternative ways to get close with what’s already available“:
You can change how each Home Screen hub is displayed… this includes an option to increase the number of items displayed in this hub (as for interesting playlists getting bumped from the recent playlists hub).
- Open
Settings>Experience>Home Screen>Recent Playlists - Change the mode from Default
- Increase the
Item Limit
Ability to pin playlists on homescreen for music in Plexamp
We currently have the option to click on a “Mixes for you” card, and it instantly starts a plex mix.
Id like the same functionality for playlists. You would add a playlist to the home menu, and clicking it would instantly start playing from it - with you being able to set it to play either on shuffle or from the beginning when you add it.
