I don’t think the client should have to opt in to using the optimized version. If client remote and there is an optimized version, prefer that, even if server needs to transcode. Its infinitely easier to transcode a 720p AVC than a 4k HEVC. Not like clients do much more than hit the play button anyways, why would they dig in settings for alternate versions? The current logic kind of makes the optimized versions irrelevant since they aren’t used.
