The current search feature in plex DOES search the guide but only for a show/movie. I would like it to be able to also search the guide for channel names and also the channel number.
The Plex DVR already imports channel numbers and channel names. If I understand correctly though, the guide uses GraceNote (which I’m told Plex does not have control on what appears in the Guide).
I’d say let this feature search the guide first for matching channel name/channel number. If not found then, if possible, just search the backend where our channel mapping is stored.
This feature would be useful for clients that don’t support using a “traditional” remote with channel numbers on it and, imo, would make the search feature a lot more integrated.
