[Feature Request] Let users choose album sort order

I would like to request that users have multiple options when sorting albums underneath an artist in their library.

 

The old way on the standard music library was alphabetical (which made no sense to me, but to each his own) and on the new premium libraries we are almost there with date descending, but that seems backwards to me.  I would always want my albums in chronological order from left to right, or date ascending.

 

Regardless of what your preference is I really think it would be great if each of us could pick how our albums are ordered in Artist view.

 

Edit:  I just saw this comment with the new Plex Media Server Release 0.9.12.1

 

• Add a hidden preference for sorting albums (AlbumSort, with default value "year:desc", you can set "year", "title", etc.)

 

Where do I edit this value and is "year" or "year:asc" the option I am after?

As a Mac user, I just added "defaults write com.plexapp.plexmediaserver AlbumSort year:asc" in terminal and my Plex world now looks like my real world  :D

As per the page you linked, in Windows simply open the registry editor on your Plex Media Server and navigate to

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Plex, Inc.\Plex Media Server

and create a new String Value called "AlbumSort" with a value of "year:asc"

Close and restart Plex Media Server and done!

The only thing I would want for others would be a list of all possible values for this.

I use the Music library to organize my radioplays. Usually i want to sort them by Name, so that they are in the correct storyline order.

According to this post i have added "title:desc" to my registry at the proposed path, but with no effect. Plex still sorts by year and then by Name, which mixes all up:

Can anyone please give me a hint?
