When viewing the (music) entry for an artist in Plex, albums are always listed with the most recently released album first.
However, I use Plex to stream my audiobook library, and I would greatly prefer to be able to change their sort method to something else like Name or Ascending Date instead of just Descending Date when viewing the Artist (Author) Page. As it is, if I have more than one book for an author, I always edit their release date to the same year, because they do sort by name if the year is the same.
…Also, I would like date sorting to include month and day–not just year.
For example, I have 10 Ender’s Game series books. In the Orson Scott Card page on my Plex clients, the first book Ender’s Game is at the bottom of the list; not the top. And if an author releases more than one book in the same year (and I hadn’t set all the years for an author’s works as the same), Plex ignores the month and day for alike years and sorts them by name, which can likely put them out of order (this happened in my Ramona Quimby series).

No. It is merely the default. It can be set globally for every audio library and can be overridden for every AlbumArtist.
(as per PMS version 1.4.1, previous versions had a hidden setting to change that only globally)
