[FEATURE REQUEST] Make Sync Available Without Internet Connection

Hi all,

I’d like to request that the ability to synchronize media be made available without a connection to the internet. It doesn’t make sense to me that I can stream media to devices on my lan, but on those same devices cannot sync the same media over the lan. The need for an internet connection seems artificial and more of a choice made by the devs than a tangible requirement. Big 'ol Thank you to everyone Who has been up-voting this feature. I truly appreciate it and I’m sure many others with poor Internet connectivity like troops, the less fortunate, and those in under-served areas appreciate it.

So the biggest reason why I would love this feature is I’m a truck driver. When I leave the house I don’t have a router. So I have to listen to music off of my laptop or sync with iTunes. Same with movies and shows. I prefer and really enjoy loading up my iPad with goodness instead of using my laptop. I know plug in the laptop and a hard drive and just do it the old fashioned way. I’d really rather not have a hard drive sitting running for hours on end when I could just sync with my iPad and relax about it. Seems like it should work just fine. Also when the internet goes out at home. Which does happen. You end up staring at a blank screen unless you watch off your laptop and not off a giant screen. Specifically the Xbox Plex app won’t work unless it’s conneted to Xbox live. So if live is down or the internet is out. There’s no viewing pleasure

PLEASE enable this feature! I have Plex running on a MyPassport Wireless Pro server with the idea of supplying media to our iPads while traveling. There are 4 of us, and running 4 streams simultaneously off of the portable server is very glitchy at best, and just doesn’t work most of the time. So, we want to download content to our iPads, and then cycle through content as we finish it. Requiring an internet connection while traveling (i.e. on airplanes, in airports, traveling internationally, etc.) for syncing content to iPads is not a feasible requirement. The Plex client on the iOS devices (and the Plex Media Server on the MyPassport) should cache the PlexPass information and allow for full functionality for a period of off-line usage, like 30 days which is the minimum amount of time a PlexPass is good for.
