I’m traveling around and have Plex setup on a laptop. I set up a wifi network from my laptop so my kids can sync movies/tv shows to their iPads. for some reason, unless I have the internet connected to the wifi LAN the movies don’t sync. Is there a toggle switch or something that can help Plex realize there is no internet and to process the request for local sync/downloads?
Given syncing is a Plex Pass feature, Plex will depend on an existing internet connection to verify you still have an active Plex Pass membership.
There’s a few suggestions to drop this or for the server/apps to “remember” your status for some time – though there’s been little interest or reactions to most of those (I suppose there’s some caveats for Plex too when it comes to such models).
Long story short… Plex will need an active internet connection – though that’s only needed to verify your account status… the sync itself won’t use your mobile data.
Couldn’t they “remember” your status if you have a lifetime pass? Seems a bit silly to have to check if you have a lifetime pass and the device has already been authenticated.
