I would like to be able to see Chapters when using the movie trailers feature. Right now, if you have movie trailers enabled and you play a movie, a “playlist” is created with all the trailers that will be shown. But the chapters for the actual movie are not present.
This functionality is clearly possible as TV shows have Chapters displayed at the same time as the show playlist. I will take pictures when I get home to make this a bit more clear.
edit: just kidding, can’t take a screenshot until the current chapters bug is fixed
This is a feature request thread for the Plex client primarily.
Technically its just as much of a Plex client feature as global search and home screen recommendations. I think it would be great if our playlists could act as “channels” in the Live Channels app.

Instead of Live Channels support, I’d rather see Plex do something similar to the Live Channels app and add a second icon to the Android TV interface. Have multiple “sources” (user can choose just like Live Channels app) and it jumps you into a TV grid interface where you get streaming content (local OTA channels, WatchUp, etc.) Obviously they bought WatchUp for a reason, they need to integrate that content somewhere…
The idea of launching Plex, select user, select “Channels”, select Live TV, pick a channel seems very cumbersome. Granted, that’s a lot of assumptions for where they will put Live TV once it comes but, IMO, it needs to be simpler to get to than a standard media library.

Ugh don’t remind me. I think we are well on our way into being forced into advertisements before watching our own content. I don’t want news anywhere in Plex.
I was only trying to highlight that some content needs to be accessed very differently from Plex’s current format. I agree though, I have no interest in having advertisements or other content “forced” on me. Its part of the reason I put my movie library in Plex in the first place. With all the warnings, previews, extras that you have to filter through when using a disc, it’s very annoying.

AndroidTV needs the ability to sync which already exists in the code.
I’ll add it but they’ve said they have no interest in adding it in the past. Don’t make sound like they can just use the code they already have. They can’t just unlock it and have it work. They would need to test it for stability and then I assume right some more to actually make it work.

Come on dude, you’ve said before you don’t care about it and that’s fine, but you know AndroidTV is the same code as Android mobile except for UI elements. Adding it would be very easy if they wanted to.
There’s a huge threads requesting sync on desktop clients… I see this as the same thing.
Once again just a case of Plex decoding what we want and need I’d of giving us options.

I’m not naive enough to believe just enabling the code is enough to make it work. I was simply saying it’s not going to be as simple as that.

It might be the same code, but adding sync into Android TV would not be an easy task. We’re not entirely sure on the benefit this would provide either since syncing is aimed at smaller devices that work offline where as an Android TV device is something connected to your TV / network and not really portable.

We won’t ever force you to watch adverts before your own content - features like trailers are purely there to allow a cinema like experience and show you some content you might enjoy!

All due respect, sync for desktop clients is the 2nd most requested feature right now.
I don’t consider desktop clients as much more portable than a ShieldTV, and yet there’s a need. Unfortunately unmetered and fast enough internet isn’t available everywhere yet.

I can see sync for a laptop device being a popular request, as that is a device you can easily use in a portable / offline situation without needing extra screens / devices / power, where as an Android TV is more of a fixed / stuck by your TV device.
