I’m a happy PLEX user for several years, but now I miss a little feature. The Multiroom Audio feature, which enables playing individual music across the house. My idea is simple. Using the servers platform onboard and/or add-on soundcard (if available) output. They can configured to mono or stereo zones. Every mono zone is one audio channel, so the common 5.1 soundcard can handle three stereo zone, or six mono. The user can configure and manage this setup from web interface. Adding, renaming, assign zones. Example “Kitchen” are the first output left channel “Hall” are the right, the “Living room” are the second output left and right. This feature appears on now playing bar on any device! I attached an example. Thanks in advance!
I would like to play music in multiple rooms, so when walking around my home the same song is playing in various rooms.
Unlike the original post above, could we not start playing music on 1 computer and choose to send it to other players?
For example:
I have a plex media server
I have a desktop pc in living room
laptop in kitchen
laptop in bedroom
From the laptop in kitchen I play music or create a playlist. I then choose which plex players I would like to also play this content. Whatever I play on the kitchen laptop then plays in the other rooms too.
This eliminates the soundcard problem, as all other devices manage that themselves.
Still trying to get multiroom done via Plex Server and Plex Media Player embedded (RPi’s). Currently I use Pi3B+ boards with HiFiberry HATs. The quality of the sound is wonderful.
Plex dabled with multi-room years ago but I cannot find any recent doc’s on how to do it with current server / players. I do not want to use a third party system like Chromecast.
Anyone know how to group PMP nodes together and achieve multiroom audio?
Has anyone had any luck with this? It used to be possible years ago but there’s no longer any docs on how to get it done. I thought Synclounge would be the trick but it only supports video.
