It would be great to have native support for other subtitle types, aprticularly ASS. Them being transcoded means I often can’t/can barely run things.
On which clients will those ASS subtitles be transcoded for you?
What’s your subtitle preferences on that app (e.g. always burn-in vs. automatic)?
Sorry, I might not be using the right terms. The issues happen when I use the plex app on my LG TV or chromecast.
From what I’ve learned Plex should be playing ASS subtitles if the client is set to Never burn in subtitles. That being said Plex doesn’t support any sophisticated formatting or features of ASS subtitles (e.g. karaoke or custom fonts).
My options for that are Automatic, always advanced format, and always. I don’t seem to have a never. I’ll give the only advanced a go and see if it helps.
