One of the strengths of Plex Media Server has always been to provide solutions for content that is not mainstream.
Plex built its own metadata catalogue, providing its own ID and it works good for all mainstream content and in a number of languages. Congratulations.
But Plex has always been more. People have different interests and not everything can have its place in Plex’ database. Be it adult entertainment, be it alternative sources, be it Youtube content, be it languages outside the scope of Plex.
There are a number of reason why all users want to use the new Plex movie and TV show agents. But then you loose the chance to create entrypoints for other metadata (metadata scrapers, etc).
To stay the universal solution for all the media people own and want to look at “Plex style”, I give my vote for a new solution to get data also from other sources than the Plex database(s).
Please add a new way of adding metadata that is not provided by Plex itself. Your new agents are not python-based and there’s no entrypoint for user-created scanners, supporting agents and more.
I would be happy to have the possibility to code new scanners compatible with the new Plex interface if you decide to create that interface.
