I have tried that static media agent, cannot get it to work. Seriously what does it take to get the developers to listen to this simple request? Why do I get thumbnails from 60 minutes into a recording guving away over half the result of the games?
I am on Windiws, if anyone has a workaround that actually works please tell me.
Correct, if you rotate the “Customize for media types” to other choices
as you mentioned… you can toggle these settings on a per-media type
basis… i.e. Movies, Seasons, Episodes, etc… Hope that makes sense.
Thank you jnheinz I will experiment with that! I have a huge motorsport library but also a large home video library that I want to keep screen thumbs for so I will see what I can do! Thanks again!
No problem. That could be a challenging scenario if they are both
tagged as home videos/photos libraries. I am really surprised neither
Emby nor Plex has added a library type as Sports to address this. I
will submit a feature request to Emby.
I have been talking to Luke & Happy2Play at Emby and they have already sorted a naming issue for sports and hopefully working on the thumbnail issue not affecting other libraries! I do use the static media solution for Plex and it works well but I prefer Emby for many reasons,
Looks like they are going to switch to per-library metadata control.
This will be the magic bullet to differentiate between a lot of the
odd-ball media types.
Millions of thumbnails have taken up 30G space of my hard drive and leaving the update process lasting forever. Only to find that nothing changed years after the issue been stated. Goodbye PLEX.
Good idea to grab a frame at the beginning of a video instead of the end in standalone sport matches, but it wouldn’t work for a race weekend where qualifying and podium videos are in the same folder as the races. Grabbing a frame near the front would immediately display the winner(s) or top qualifiers.
Really, couldn’t Plex allow you to disable frame grabs in favor of a default Poster and Background for the entire Library?
Same problem here. Lookng at the attached view, there are a number of spoliers right there. Why not just the Season Graphic as the image with a big S1E1, S1E2, S1E3 etc text on the cover if each episode? Simple
yeah, just happened again last night. Me and the wife loaded up a UFC fight, and huess what? the thumbnail showed the victor in one of the main fights… arrggg
it doesnt matter i know but i am canceling my plex pass and going to switch to silicone dusts dvr, i really want to use plex but i am using it exclusively for sports dvr and its just ruining every game/event. its shame they dont care a bout this.
Hm. I have Emby already and just never use it, but got the impression it had the same issue. You are saying Emby has a way to disable the preview?
Thanks for pointing this out, I can watch on there from now on.
EDIT: Found it on the Emby forum. “Dashboard-Library-your TV library Enable Show advance settings-scroll down to Image fetchers”
Thanks, I guess this isn’t the solution Plex would want but it’s just fine for me!
