Rather than searching for and scheduling new recordings separately… if you already have the shows in your library, place an option on that show to recording the first new(recuring etc, see below) airing of that show…
say, on the show’s “…” drop down, add an option to say “schedule DVR Recording” (or “cancel DVR Recording”)
Additionally, in the show’s properties, add a tab to the left for DVR properties for that show (pre-post times, channel restrictions, new/recurring , transcoding etc…)
