I love Plexamp! Thank you for giving this app to Plex subscribers
I have a Feature Request. Can the Plexamp android app use the built-in HW DAC if it is available? I noticed that the app is still using native music API of android that is capped (around 44Khz).
I have a Hiby R6 player and there is an indicator if the music is playing beyond 44KHz. I have some songs that have a 96Khz sampling rate. On plexamp, it only plays at 44Khz but If I use a player like Neutron, it’s able to play higher than 44KHz. I was able to play on Neutron after syncing (through plexamp) the songs on the device. So basically it’s the same file played on two different apps.
I’d just like to add my voice to this. I’d like the Plexamp app to support external dacs on all devices but particularly the iPhone in my case. I’ve got a battery powered usb dac/headphone amp (attached via the lightning camera adaptor) which supports all sorts of bit rates, bit depths and DSD but Plexamp outputs everything at 16/44.1.
The ability to send audio bitperfect at all rates/formats would be really great and would start making plex looking like a more serious contender against roon, and plex is a lot cheaper.
There’s a lot of audiophiles out there looking for a good digital audio library/playback server system and while roon is excellent it’s also very pricey. I think that there are a number of areas in which plex would need to improve to compete on an equal footing but it’s all doable and plex is in a good position right now to start reaching in that direction. Especially as you already support playing audio from outside the home, a feature roon has long been missing…
