Also just voted for an upgrade of the Android TV Plex app. It indeed seems far behind the ATV one. I’d have anticipated that Plex has a loyal Shield user base?
Another missing feature seems to show movies on Shield homescreen via channel (similar how it is done on ATV).
Does the new 7.18 beta solve the problem?

This feature really needs to be added to both the Android app and the Android TV app. I’m currently testing out Plex as an Emby replacement because I thought my mother in law would have an easier time with plex’s UI, but the lack of this feature is a serious killer for me. Emby has this on both apps, yet they don’t get nearly the support Plex does. The fact that paying customers have been asking for this feature for years is just sad.
Android TV finally got an update and cast names and photos STILL aren’t displayed. I don’t know why this is such a big deal that they won’t add this feature. This is such a basic feature, yet Plex REFUSES to add it. Makes me really regret buying this product.
@SamFromPlex is this getting worked on as part of the rebuild for the preplay screen on Android?

New update rolls out yet still no actors. If this feature isnt implemented by the time my yearly Plex subscription ends, I’m going back to Emby. Absolutely ridiculous
This honestly feels like such a basic thing since pretty much every other platform has it, but it’s been nearly a year and still nothing.
It’s actually been about two years now. I have no idea what Plex is thinking, but they obviously aren’t listening. (reading)

Been barking up this tree for over a year. It only bothers me because the Shield TV is arguably the best premade player, with the most barren UI. A few months back they have it the “Global UI” makeover, but still missing actor bubbles.
When you’ve got a library 3000+ discovery is a hugely underrated feature. Sometimes the hardest part is finding what to watch (rough life lol). And the overall discovery of the Android-TV is lacking compared to all the others. Just take Roku and do the same thing to Android.
I would also love this feature on my Nvidia Shield (Android TV)

Wife and I just finished a movie and afterwards we wanted to look at cast members for another.
We both “knew” that Plex showed cast info.
Evidently we were wrong cause it’s simply not there.
Have same issue her, why nobody of Plex answer to this question? Is it in the plan to do this or we willnever have? Just a straight answer so I will decide what to install in future, thanks
@ljunkie thanks for working with your team to get actor/cast added to Roku..
Any idea how we get the Android devs to take notice? I think a lot of folks would like this on Android too.
