Singular tracks or random music files that do not appear on any album, ep, and so on. My idea about this was to place them in the artist folder. But the problem you get here is that for every artist Plex is going to make an single ‘album’.
I would love to see all my random, unorganised tracks together in one ‘album’. Basically Various Tracks, instead of Various Artists. I think this would be a good way to solve this.
- So put the singular tracks in the artist folder (or maybe a folder called Singular Tracks inside the artist folder)
- Let Plex group them together inside of one album, and display the relevant tracks by the right artist (not only their own singular tracks, but also their featurings (among others) on other singular tracks)
That way you’re not getting lots of albums with a handful of tracks on the albums overview page, but the right data would be displayed by the right artist.
Why not just create an album called “Various tracks” and put all your files there. I do something similar for singles and just call the album “Singles”.

I think it ultimate becomes about how you’d like to catalog your music. There will be trade offs to some of the creative cataloging like lyrics matching.
It’s possible, creative cataloging could affect future enhancements too… I can imaging better metadata analysis with artist/album influences or building “this weeks top 40” from 10 or 20 years ago pulling from multiple albums because the album/artist metadata is what is used to identify items to create that list.

Correct if I’m wrong but doesn’t the Plex Music algorithm dismiss any Various Artists in the Plex Radio stations like Decades because these singles are more often are located on compilations but aren’t played in the use of Plex Radio? This has irked me and my use case and it’s actually a bad move on Plex to disregard Various Artist that way.
I’m not sure if the code actually ignores Various Artists. However, the criteria for Radios are based on the metadata and for Various Artists it’s usually blank. If you added some actual data, it may work.
