[UPDATE: Turns out the Roku CAN do most of this already - see notes below]
~~I know there is a sort by ‘rating’ function in the Web interface but I can’t find a sort by rating (other than content rating) on the Roku or iOS devices. Plus, I don’t know where these star ratings in the web interface come from.
~~
[UPDATE: There is a sort by ratings option that I never noticed before @OttoKerner pointed out that it can be done on the web interface (see below). Turns out this has been available on the Roku for awhile. Yay! ]
Since we can now include Rotten Tomatoes and/or IMDb ratings, I would love to be able to sort movies on THOSE ratings on the Roku or iOS or the Web interface. More specifically:
1. I would like to pick a genre (say romance) or content rating (eg: if we want only G movies to watch with our kdis) or actor or director and then sort those results by ratings so that my wife and I can browse our movies and decide what to watch;
[UPDATE: Have since discovered that you can sort by ratings (far right option) and then pick a genre or actor or whatever and those will be sorted by the ratings]
~~2. There should be an option to show only unwatched (or partially watched) movies in the results so that the movies we have already seen aren’t clogging up the results; and
~~
[UPDATE: Again, unbeknownst to me there is a universal show only unwatched sort option in the left options column that can be turned on simultaneously with a genre or actor or whatever sort]
I personally don’t rate my own shows with the star function so I don’t particularly want to sort by my stars - though I’m not opposed to it. What I would MUCH prefer is the IMDb or Rotten Tomatoes rating to show up when sorting by rating.
[UPDATE: I still don’t fully understand the stars. When I sort by rating, it does show the number of stars (which is odd because Rotten Tomatoes and IMDB don’t use stars). More interestingly when I look at individual movies some/most have an IMDb rating but some still have rotten tomato ratings even though I totally refreshed my movie library a few days ago. Would much prefer the actual IMDb or Rotten Tomatoes rating to show up on the movie sort results. As it is now I have to open each movie to see what the underlying rating was. If four stars ‘means’ all films rated between 8 and 9 on the IMDb scale, there is a huge difference between movies rated 8.9 and those rated 8.1. I would prefer to see this granularity over the 100 or so movies in this group then to just see them all as 4 stars.]
Anyone else want this feature? If so please ‘like’ this post.
Not exactly what you asked for, but it will fulfill the same purpose:
Most of the movies you see there are using the Rottentomatoes rating, like

Yes, you show the web interface sort rating I was talking about in my first sentence above. This is somewhat helpful, but isn’t helpful when I’m sitting out in front of the television with my wife and family since there is no similar sorting option on the Roku or iOS devices.
It is interesting that you are suggesting this info comes from Rotten Tomatoes. But, rotten tomatoes expresses ratings as a percentage. Not stars. So, I’m not sure how this is squared. I’d much prefer seeing the rating as a percentage in this case. Or, since I use IMDb ratings, in my case I would like to see their 1-10 with decimal point rating. That way I’m sure where the ratings are coming from if the number matches the source. Still, useful to know that this ranking is coming from IMDb or Rotten Tomatoes if that is the case. Thanks.
Where did you get that snipped of code you showed?
UPDATE: Holly Cow! You just showed me something. I didn’t know it was possible to have more than one filter applied in the WebUI! Whoot! Awesome. Wish I could do that on the Roku or iOS. Thanks. I learned something today!

Agreed.

I guess this request can be closed by whoever closes them because (as I noted in my updates above), everything I want can already be done, though I still have some confusion around the star rating system. I would much prefer the IMDb rating to show up under each sorted movie than the stars.
