Feature request - star ratings affect only the selected track(s), not multiple

Right now, if I select a single track and give it a star rating, Plex will rate all songs like it (on compilations, remasters, etc.) with the same star rating. I’d like to request the ability to choose my own ratings and, if I pick a track and rate it, it will rate that track and only that track. I get that you think it’s useful but, to me and others, it isn’t, and it would be great if we got to choose the ratings ourselves. I’ve read that deduplication in playlists will be allowed (it’s been years and, if that’s an option, I still can’t find it), but that’s not the same thing.

FWIW, and I could be mistaken so please correct me if so, but I believe it only tags multiple tracks with the rating if the songs are identical (by way of musicbrainz ID). So, if it’s the same song/recording, I can see how the desired behavior should be to tag both with the rating. That would be my preferred way to handle it.

Stairway to Heaven on [Led Zepplin IV] is identical on their Complete Studio Albums Compilation, and thus both should get the rating.

Taylor Swift’s Fearless on the album Fearless is different than on the (Taylor’s Version) album, thus does not get the same rating. I confirmed.

To get real in the weeds, I do see how someone might want to seperate the ratings for different reasons. For me, I have multiple versions of some albums, differentiated only by who mastered or remastered them. I would kinda like the ratings to be seperate, even though the source (and thus musicbrainz id) is the same. But on the whole, I don’t mind that the rating system works this way.

I get the thought process but I would prefer the ability choose for myself. The Plex way makes smart playlists using ratings pointless. And if I’m looking to listen to, say, Tom Sawyer, then I want the one from Moving Pictures, not Chronicles.
