Feature request - Steal some features from Infuse

After having used Infuse for a couple of days, there are a few features that I love, which I think it would be great if the ATV Plex client would support aswell.

  1. Scale media to match the resolution of the connected display. With Infuse, you can direct play 4K media on your 1080p screen. If you try the same with the Plex ATV client, it requires the file to be transcoded.

  2. Tonemap if neccesary.

  3. Cache as much as possible. Infuse seems to cache the entire movie, This surprised me. I tried from remote and found that while the client far from maxed out my internet, it used alot more bw than what I would have expected - for a while. After that, it didnt use any bw at all. I love the ability to do this as It surely will provide a more reliable experience.

This is already true on Apple TV 4K (but not Apple TV 4th gen).

Already working with the Enhanced Video Player.

We can’t do much with the original player (AVPlayer), which is a black box owned by Apple. However, the Enhanced Video Player should behave much better in that regard.

I allready tried scaling with the 4K and could not get it to work. Thats the reason Im running Infuse right now. When I select original quailty it hangs for a while before it gives the “Server isnt strong enough” message, as if trying to transcode.

Tonemapping I havent really tried as I couldnt get 4K content to play, but If it works, great.

If caching is working good, awesome!

Hmmm that’s weird, could you share server and app logs right after reproducing the problem?
Thanks!

I PM´ed them to you
