Feature Request: Transcode Series file to smaller than original

Hi Guys,

i have sonarr and radarr, the series not same resolution and codec but i want to change to same… PMS have optimalization but i want to change the original to the optimalizated., smaller file 720p to TV opt. Can i set it this in PMS? or this is a new feature needed?

Plex lets you select from the preset optimizations.

Are you asking if you can make a custom geometry?

the default geometry now 0,7Mbps or 1,5Mbps enough but after the optimalization i need the automaticly file change and deleting from the original folder

that is not what the ‘optimize’ function is designed for.

‘optimize’ does not replace the original file.

it adds an additional ‘pre-transcoded’ file that can be used instead of trying to transcode on the fly (ie if you have a slow cpu that cannot keep up).

i need it this for hdd space saving not on the fly coding… You know i have gtx1650 so now i have good speed transcoding… Space saving was the destination!

that’s the default Bitrate. the display geometry is as per the selector.

If I may caution:

  1. You can optimize the original, then copy the optimized file and put it in place of the original and delete the now-duplicate optimized file after.

  2. Doing step #1 means you’re going to lose all of the original quality and you’ll never get it back unless you go reload that original file from wherever it is stored.

  3. It’s your media and your viewing experience but what at what point does “more space so you can get more” exceed “it’s not good enough to watch anymore”?

Personally I see a lot of “I have X-thousand movies” . I ask myself what the quality level is. I have just under 1000 (across all movie genres) at full disk rip quality and I have 64TB of main array storage. (110TB total)

You alrigt! 3. i have 2800 movies and 70 series… So i love the 4K but @ document series dont want a 4k experience i only need the narative and loosy pictutre, the first ting is learning therein meaning. i think pms better of this function if anyone need it like me…
