Many modern cloud media players now support dragging and dropping of new content into the web interface.
Why would you want to create a copy of your files? Just move the files using your OS.

I’ve been setting up individual hosted Plex servers for people because they like the interfaces and clients. These are not tech savvy folks. Of course they each sign up for PlexPass 
I then teach them how to SFTP their media to the remote server, so whenever they download a movie or MP3 they upload the file into their library. They treat it like a cloud service.
One of my colleagues was interested, but as soon as I mentioned SFTP his eye glazed over and he said, “I can’t upload via the interface?” I said, “of course not!” and continued to get a bewildered look from him. And then the light bulb turned on 
and I though, why not?
