I have a ton of E-books, i dont want plex to be a ebook reader, i want plex to SHOW there are ebooks and you can click on the book to open your reader and read it.
Is this possible?
If you love ebooks, do yourself a favor and get calibre . You won’t regret it.
It’s the golden standard for ebook management, conversions, sideloads to ebook reading devices, etc.
- Open source
- Free (as in “free beer”)
- Multiplatform
- Converts from a lot of formats to other formats
- A lot of plug-ins available that enhance the functionality of calibre
- Available DeDRM plug-in (not oficially supported by calibre)
- Content server
- A great comunity
- etc…
I love ebooks - I’m an avid reader and have currently 5 Kobos - and calibre is the best software out there for ebooks.
Disclaimer: I have no affiliation with calibre, other than I have been using it for about 12 years.
I do use/have it on my pc. it’s like the guy above said, i use moonreader on my tablet but i like plex being a one stop shop.
again, its not a big deal I just throught to ask (and moom reader+ on android is great, but almost overwhelming with features)
There’s a few ebook\audio book specific server options if you’re looking outside of Plex options.
Since you’re using Calibre already you might check out Calibre Web; that’s considered better than the built in WebUI.
Jellyfin can do ebook\audio book libraries.
Kavita and Ubooquity are dedicated ebook\comic servers that are pretty popular.
I like YACReader for comic specific server\client for tablets and phones (or even just local client) myself. It even handles long form webcomics in cbz\cbr which can be an uncommon feature (just flip a mode setting). There’s a bunch of other comic specific servers out there though and Jellyfin can do comics too but I don’t think it’s quite as complete as the dedicated options.
Anyways - thought I’d throw this info out there as I keep looking into these options myself sometimes and had the info handy.
