Just a thought on the possibility to talking to Korvid Goyal the Calibre guy, about integrating
Calibre library support into Plex so you could get your ebooks served to any device much in the
same way as movies, TV, music, pix etc?
…give things a truely “multi-media” feel

What a great idea! I would love to read some of my 90+ books from my Calibre library. All we would need is a reader included into Plex and the ability to create Book sections in PMS. A TV-friendly format would need to be chosen (i.e finding the best out of the myriad of formats out there that could work with Plex) and this reader could be integrated into the different clients. At this point, Calibre would only be needed for the capability to convert whatever format of book you have into one that would be PMS friendly and/or for metadata management.
It has been over 2 years since the first thread on this topic was started (http://forums.plexapp.com/index.php/topic/14981-support-for-ebookdocument-formats-and-organizal-tools-similar-to-the-movies-category/) and immediately criticized by another forum member. LOL–maybe we want to view books on our ipads, iphones or laptops? myPlex would make the library accessible anywhere:) How can some people be so short sighted as to not recognize the potential? It is Plex MEDIA Server after all…

+1 for some sort of ebook support. Loved plex for movies/music, but now getting into ebooks having no support for this seems crazy. From what I’ve read XBMC can do it, and Plex came from XMBC, dropping it seems a bit crazy. Looks like I’ll be trying out XBMC and if it works, bye bye Plex!

+1 I'm less interested in the reader aspect of it and more in the easy access to other books from remote locations. I can always open it in a reader like Kindle, iBooks, etc.

Just upgraded from monthly plexpass to unlimited. Your development goal seems to be to work on every mobile device... ebook media reader only seems to make sense, please bring this feature so I dont have to use yet another app! Thanks!

bump. still using calibre+fbreader, emby has epub library support, but no reader. I’d much rather have reader support in plex than things like vr.
