If you have a large number of movies in your media library, Plex takes forever when you want to browse by Actor or Director on Plex for AppleTV. It’s borderline unusable. Provide a way to search with an input text box, with partial matches. This is pretty basic stuff for a media player app.
This functionality already exists.
When you’re on the main screen of the Plex client on your Apple TV, navigate to the top, this will bring up the main menu. At the very right of that menu you can find the search.
After typing a few characters, Plex will start looking for matches…
- across media types (movies, tv-shows, episodes, collections, albums, songs)
- by artist, cast, director…
- depending on your configuration Plex will search on the given server or all connected servers
