Totally new VM, fresh install of Ubuntu 20.04, then apt-get update / upgrade / dist-upgrade. Added the plex repository using “wget -q https://downloads.plex.tv/plex-keys/PlexSign.key -O - | sudo apt-key add -”
It all worked initially fine, but now some films refuse to play, 2 hours later. I’ve got it working previously by deleting the Codecs from the relevant director, here’s the contents after the total rebuild. What’s annoying is it did play initially and has now stopped with problem ones.
the files are sherd from SMB shares, that work fine, we also have a nvidea shield with kodi in the front room, it plays them without any issues as indeed did plex initially.
I’ve put some info below, but does anyone have any ideas - and for a paid product, via plex pass, I’d have expected Plex to help too. Here are the logs etc.

It’s failing to work because you’ve added more media to watch than Linux can handle by default.
Linux default is up to 8192 directories.
You’ve given Plex more than that to watch.
