Some initial feedback on changes I don’t like when directly compared to existing client experience (in no particular order):
- TMDB ratings are missing everywhere (movies, shows, episodes). Some episodes have imdb ratings.
- Movie genre has been reduced from 3 to 2.
- Continue Watching can no longer be selected to open its own page. You now have to scroll horizontally.
- Codec information is missing.
- Show level posters on the Continue Watching has been replaced with season level posters.
- The UX appears focused on eye candy taking posters and artwork into the front over information/metadata. Top half the screen is taken up with nothing but a picture.
- The UX also appears zoomed but I understand other may like it larger. The balance feels off, at least to me. Two examples, First: on the current mobile client when I open home, continue watching and two pinned library fit perfectly. However, on the new version continue watching and the first pinned library with the second library cut about 15% way down from the top. Second: Opening any movie and show cuts the cast images at the bottom in half.
- On the episode screen the artwork shown is the show level thumbnail and not the episode thumbnail.
- Logos are causing a lot of problem as many are wrong and are overriding the custom title edits. There are loads of examples but I’ll give one movie and one show, “Avengers Assemble” is now “The Avengers” and “Agatha All Along” is now “Agatha Coven of Chaos”.
- Switching between specific libraries is cumbersome and a downgrade when compared to the current mobile client.
- Notifications seems like they no longer can be configured via settings. For now I’ve blocked the app sending any notifications.
- New Preview app will not connect to local plex server when there is no access to external internet.
- Search auto populated with “Popular Searches” from discover should not happen when I have all the online items from plex disabled.
- Cast listing within movies, shows or episodes no longer lists directing, writing or production credits.
- View all from Cast has been removed - long cast lists are therefor harder to scroll and visually search
