Fewer Actors are being shown in Cast

Ever since I switched to the new agent, there are fewer Actors listed under Cast in a lot of my TV Series.

Here is one example: Ascendance of a Bookworm

This is exactly the kind of reason I stopped using the new Plex agent. It has broken listings and no way to fix or switch over to a better database listing.

100% agree. Cast listing for TV series is the one major limitations the modern plex scanner/agent has.

You can even see here Ascendance of a Bookworm - Where to watch episodes online - Plex for this show its the same. I’ve been told that over time it’ll improve but I’ve not really noticed much since the new agent was rolled out.

In addition, the new agent also sometimes has English dub actors instead of Japanese actors. The old agent only did Japanese actors like god intended.

The problem isn’t the new agent itself, there is something wrong with the new TV agent now.

I have a library I originally created with the new agent, and I got a good list of cast when I created it, but if I do a metadata refresh on a title now the cast row reduces to just 2-3 actors generally, and it had more while still using the new agent in the beginning.

I just did a couple screenshots using Princess Principal after making a snapshot of my dataset so I could roll back after doing this…

Here’s a fun one. I should mention I actually have two different anime libraries, one on the old agent and one on the new agent. So I can do a real apples-to-apples comparison.

Unfortunately I had some issues getting a screen shot of the cast list on the old (theTVDB) metadata agent. So I had to resort to this… ( )

Why is the cast list on the new Plex Agent so low? It doesn’t even cover the main cast of the show. Let alone any supporting cast. The TMDB page I linked shows plenty more cast given, so this isn’t a case of theTVDB being more complete.
