I just installed Plexmediaserver on Ubuntu Server 20.04. I had initially had some issues removing content which after some googling found the answer, the plex user needs to own the location of the content. Did that then I was able to delete the item. When I tried to add another location to my library, the folders were greyed out on the web UI. Only after I changed the owner back to my Ubuntu primary user PID1000, was I able to add items to my library as well as browse the directories via Windows. Unfortunately deleting the files does not remove them from Plex, I tried that and they become stuck there. I had to completely remove Plex (purge). Now I’m stuck with this odd issue. The plex user can delete items, but nothing else. My Ubuntu user account (which is an administrator) can do everything else. I use Windows to manage the files (via SMB share).
