File naming conventions

I just copie personal video files to my server — the file name were in the form

sibject-tag1-tag2.m4v

when I view the files with roku or web broser the Video titles look link this –

Subject Tag1 Tag2

is there a naming conventions that will not change the display name?

There is not.

Put a “Title” meta tag into your m4v/mp4 file and populate it with the intended spelling.

Hello — I think I must have missed sometime. I tagged all the files using a tag editor, adding the tag “title”, but the disply of the files is still the file name ---- the tag editor supports m4v files ---- is the a specific editor I need to use fort plex?

Refresh Metadata on one of those items.

Which scanner and agent is selected in the properties of this Plex library?

I am not sure what the “scanner agent” refers to — I added the files as “other videos”

Edit your library,
go to the “Advanced” tab

Settings - Server - Agents - Movies - Personal Media
make sure that the line “Local Media Assets (Movies)” has a checkmark in front of it and is sorted to be the top line.
