File scan does not add symbolic link files to library in Windows

Server Version#: 1.32.8.7639
OS: Windows 10

On a Windows 10 computer I’m trying to organize a library where the source is mounted via a pretty messy rclone drive. The files and names in the mounted drive are not changeable and do not conform to Plex standards. To make things cleaner for plex (and myself) I make symbolic links to those files and name them correctly in a standard folder structure for Plex to use, but Plex seems to just skip over the symbolic link files when scanning the folders.

As a test, I have done the same in a Linux Plex server and that seems to work fine - the symlink files are simply imported into Plex without issue.

Does Plex for Windows simply not support symbolic links?

Thanks!

You can only use hard links.

That is good to know, thanks! Before I start planning a move to Linux, do you happen know if the symlink support in Linux is officially supported, or just happens to work currently?

Sorry, I’ve no idea about Linux. You might be able to search for user experience reports in this very forum though.
