For some reason symlink files vanished and I can’t get them back, folders that are symlinked are fine, all I did was rescan my library because a single movie was missing and all symlink files vanshied.
Screenshot; the movie sets in folder appear in the library, while the direct files don’t, was working until I refreshed the library.
All symlinks are working fine via Explorer.

I don’t recall if soft/symlinks are expected to work for files in Windows.
How are you creating the links?
What’s your goal? Do these movies/files exist twice in the Library?
Please perform another scan, then share server logs.
You have to use Hardlinks for files. Which means they can only reference files which are stored on the same storage volume.

The media is on the same volume, so I guess I could use hardlinks, but that doesn’t explain why symlinks have worked for at least a couple years on two different Plex server machines.
All I did was manually refresh the media because a file wasn’t being picked up and all existing symlinked files vanshied from Plex.
I’m using Link Shell Extention to create the links.
I’m using Plex since at least 8 years and softlinks never worked on Windows for me.
