FileBot does not work with my movies

I have converted 685 DVDs to .MP4 files to set up a Plex server. Almost all of the DVDs were created from TV recordings. Many were recorded to VHS tape and converted to DVD. I started this project before someone pointed me to the Plex naming conventions. As a result none of the filenames include the date. None the less, all of the movies did load into a Movie library in Plex. In a reply to an earlier post it was suggested that I use FileBot to add the dates to the filenames. I just tried that and of the first three movies all failed no matter which of the two movie data sources I tried in FileBot. In one case FileBot renamed the file using a non-Latin alphabet. I should mention that all of these movies are from the '30s, '40s and '50s. The only way I can see to get the dates into the filenames is to look the movies up manually in IMDB and rename the files. That is not practical for 685 files. At this point I think the best thing to do is nothing since I have the movies in a library in Plex and can watch them using a Plex viewer. However, before I uninstall FileBot and move on I wanted to ask the experts if there is a better approach. Thanks for any comments.

Did you set the output in Filebot to include the date? There are output name templates. If you pick the one for Plex, you don’t need to do it manually.

I can not find any information on templates in FileBot. How do I select the Plex template. Thanks for your help.

At the bottom of rename, called presets…

Thanks. FileBot was not as bad as I first thought. I only had to lookup about 10% of the movies in IMDb and rename the files manually. So, the job is done and everything seems to work as it should. Thanks to everyone on the forum who has helped this beginner get going.
