Any chance we can get a filter by “video codec” in the Media Server manager as I am trying to sort out x265(HEVC) vs others? Behavior like the By Resolution filter is what I am looking for. It would really help me as I am in the process of converting all my movies to X265.
Tried out ExportTools, but it is getting errors running. Initially it had access denied to create ExportTools directory, but still didn’t work after I created the sub-directory it was trying to write too. I’ll have to create an issue and submit logs.

By default it tries to write into the media folders.
If your setup has only ‘read’ privileges for Plex there, go into the configuration and set a custom location for the exported files.
Don’t try to write XLS files. That doesn’t work very well.
Use CSV files instead. It is much faster and they can be opened in Excel just as well.
After rebooting again it seems to be working now. I guess after creating the directory and assigning plex ID and grp rights it is happy. If I use ExportTools for other things I will try using a specific directory for output. Level 6 has the codec fields, but it would still be nice to have it in the PMS interface for use from time to time without all of the other work.
I too would find a codec filter option (video and sound) very very useful and it should be very simple to implement, since the data is sitting in the database just like any other filter option. Right?
I really like to have this feature, too. I like to optimize all videos with VC1 codec. A special search tag like “codec:vc1” would be really enough. No need for additional filter types in the menu.
ExportTools are still working, unless you have only a Shield as a server. They are perfect for the task at hand.
