Assuming that there are h265 h264 x265 x264 etc. encoded videos in my library, then I now want to find out the x265 encoded videos how do I do it?
In the same way, I will probably look for hevc, av1, etc. encoding
If the above doesn’t work then is there a way I can search through the filename for the relevant existing character?
Suppose xxxxxx-hevc.mp4 then I want to input hevc through the filter can I filter out all yes or no videos containing hevc in the file name
You cannot filter by certain codecs using Plex.
There’s a 3rd party app to export your library including the technical parameters, so you can filter that output file.
You shouldn’t rely on file names to show what’s in a file.
Side note: x264 and x265 usually refer to an encoder for the h264/h265 codecs respectively. The same way, HEVC is the abbreviation of the full name for h265.
Then I can understand that it is totally impossible to filter inside plex by encoding mode, if so, it is recommended to add just like hdr filter option as it makes it more intuitive to replace versions based on encoding. Like I didn’t have an hdr tv before. After I switched to an HDR TV, I needed to change the source to HDR, and then through the hdr filter, I knew my movie needed to be changed! Likewise, technology is also being updated, and there are a lot of old coding techniques that need to be replaced. Find out those that are not hevc, which is more conducive to version modification and replacement.
