Find where to watch something with "Discover" and your "Watchlist"

I’d second this. I also mix and match different streaming services from across Europe. Having the option to choose one or multiple local catalogues per streaming service would be very helpful. Maybe provide an “expert settings” page during setup so that casual users are not overwhelmed by all the available options though.

I’d love to see integration between the new watchlist-feature and the Plex DVR.

Let’s say I’ve added a new movie to my watchlist that’s only available as a rent-option or even still showing in the cinema. There should be an option to have the DVR automatically recorde the movie, once it is shown on tv.

On Apple TV (latest update) AcornTV and Britbox show as subscribed, but both give the error “Unable to Link to Title or Service”. Then ask to find the App in the App Store.

To Support:

Call the Midwife - Season 11 is currently showing the PBS app. But the PBS option does appear in my Watchlist. Please fix.

Swedish streaming services that don’t work running on Apple TV:

Comhem Play - shows available content on this streaming service but link to app is broken. The reason is probably due to rebranded app/service to Tele2 Play, since Tele2 bought Comhem in autumn of 2021.

SVT - no content available on this streaming service is shown i search results.

That’s not happening, ever. It’s been explicitly mentioned multiple times that behavior, similar to Channels DVR mimics and resembles piracy, at least to those who are working at Plex. That will be stepping on tippy toes of the content holders and will be a breach of licenses unless Plex and those companies have agreements for that.

The search function is now broken! I cannot search only my own media! What gives?

That doesn’t sound right. There’s no reason a program/movie couldn’t be added to a DVR schedule to record in the future as person described. After all, one would be able to manually add it once the EPG picks it up.

Not that I want this to happen but what you’re saying isn’t logical.

No, there were some people indicating that it could not just be recorded off a tuner but also recorded off a streaming service, creating a copy on to the server, similar to PlayOn, which was directly used in their suggestion for DVR capabilities from streaming content providers. It’s not just on here but also on Reddit that, this kind of capabilities are being asked for or being confused for what’s already been presented by Discover and Watchlist.

Hes not asking for the capability to record from a streaming service. The Plex DVR is specifically for Live TV and that is what he said.

It would be added to the DVR schedule when aired on TV. There’s no i’ll intent there at all.

There is also no functionality to directly stream 3rd party content through Plex from discover or the watchlist. It loads the providers app so there is already no way to do what you’re saying nor was that what he said.

Perhaps that is in the scope of what Discover could do but won’t work for anything that isn’t identified by the Plex Agents. Any movies or TV shows that are local or independent, will have to be found using whatever browsing tools that’s supplied under the DVR tab, separate from Discover itself.

That doesn’t make much sense either because it’s trivial to pull up metadata or search terms based on a title string and apply them to the DVR schedule. Plex already does this. When the guide matches X attributes then add to the DVR schedule. It’s what already happens when manually adding a recording schedule.

Either way all that is besides my point which was pointing out that it has nothing to do with piracy the way person stated. Nor can it be attributed to piracy.

That doesn’t always occur. I have missed recordings simply because the show had its name changed slightly due to the epg data but didn’t record because it didn’t match an already saved link in the scheduler.

Still has no relevance to what I said. Bye.

You’re right… At this point Plex has us all twisted in knots because it’s having an identity crisis again.

Everything is speculation and whataboutisms until they fix their stuff.

It’s working here. Perhaps if you provided more detail - server version, client info, what you’re searching for…

I assume the keyword here is ONLY as in you don’t want the other results showing that are not your local content.

So ive tried reading through the posts to see if my feedback has been mentioned before but couldnt find anything so im replying to this post. (mainly because there are sooo many replies  )

I really love this feature but I feel it needs one added feature to truly be able to become the one stop for all your streaming services.

Basically a dynamic watchlist, meaning that if something is marked as played on the watchlist it shouldnt show up until more episodes of the show are available. Basically when im browsing netflix, hulu etc, when i finish watching a show, it no longer shows up as the next thing to watch until a new episode of the show is streaming.

While the watchlist is an awesome feature, when you add 20 shows you are following they all stay there making it so you still have to open the app they are on to find out if a new episode is on the top of your list. Yes, if you click on your watchlist you can see it there…but that means having to click through each show you have added to see if something new is there…whereas if it were dynamic it wouldnt be on your watchlist till it needed to be.

Please let me know the status of this problem “No streaming services found for your region”.
Thanks for the help.

I actually think that the part about having the streaming not integrated is exactly for that purpose, to prevent it being used in that way.
But I think, maybe, that @TOMillr is saying to have the DVR be able to set a recording on the DVR, as the DVR exists now, with Live TV channels, when the item on the list is available on those Live Channels. Like how we can set a show to Record & select [Limit To:] as Any Channel & [Time] to Any Time then when it does air it’ll be recorded. I can totally get behind this idea, especially because shows like The Bachelor that I record for one of my household members doesn’t always carry over from season to season. So I have to re-add it each season to the DVR list. But from the Guide I have to do it within the 2 weeks that EPG provides & I have missed the 1st episode more than once. If this were avaiable from the Watchlist I’d definitely add all the shows that get DVRed to it
