How to FULLY disable Discover & Watchlist/Streaming Services

UPDATE: To anyone who finds this topic and after reading agrees we need a way to disable this new functionality please visit Fully Disable Discover & search results from Streaming Services (More Ways To Watch) and add a vote. Will plex listen, I’m not sure but the more votes we get over there the louder our voice becomes …

While I understand these maybe features lots of folks want, however I don’t. So far every device I’ve logged into today has asked me to configure this stuff and each time I have selected to not. Once is okay to ask but keeping asking me is very annoying.

My local media is all I care about, nothing else and I’m sure plenty of other folks have the same opinion as me.

So, how do we 100% disable these for good and never have any client ask us to enable it again? Under https://app.plex.tv/desktop/#!/settings/online-media-sources I can disable the online media but I see no options to disable this anywhere in the plex settings.

You can unpin the Discover section but you cannot disable those features entirely.

What does that mean? Will the clients bother to ask us until we configure it?

I’ve only seen it once, never been asked about it again.

Thanks, done that already but why when I goto another device does it ask me to configure these new features again? I’ve done this already via the WebUI, Android Mobile, Android TV (Shield) and Roku and each displayed the getting started screen …

Its like each client when it connects to a server for the first time is being asked to setup these features.

I need a way to disable this as well - my grandparents who use my server are going to be very confused when they see this

I guess what you see is the in-app announcement with the option to pin the Discover hub. I’ve only been asked to configure my preferred streaming providers once.

I do not even use streaming services. May I ask you to please disable this for my account?

So home customisation are no longer synchronised when it comes to this new discover feature. Plex will attempt to push it each time a client logs in. Wow!

Home customizations have been per-client for some time – haven’t they?
You could only sync customizations within different instances of Plex Web.

I hope we can get a way disable this from search, currently this is forced upon us, I didn’t select any of the streaming services but I am getting search results from my library and “DISCOVER”, we understand that you guys need more money but please don’t force this kind of stuff on us, thanks.

Oh god, I’ve just seen this. Will need to evaluate how I feel about this and see what else is happening. It could be the beginning of end of plex for me :frowning:

Personally I like that… I know I won’t use it excessively but it’s good to see where else I could watch a movie/show I’ve been searching for.

It’s in a separate result section and at the very bottom of the results – certainly not bothering me all that much.

Wow, and just like that without a way to completely disable this and quickly, after all this time it looks like its my last few days with Plex

I can only imagine this is just one of those many occasions that when a new feature comes along with a shiny blogpost that it hasn’t been thought out properly once more.

No doubt the option to toggle this hot garbage off completely will follow in due course after another meltdown.

You’d think a BETA feature would have a toggle from the start… wtf plex

This is interesting …

As I evaluate this change I might consider creating a managed account and ditching using my main plex account. Maybe a viable workaround but will see!

Completely irrelevant.

Out of interest when this garbage comes to clients…for those who do have as an example an Apple, Amazon account etc…thats signed in on the same device.
There are some sort of parental controls?

By that I mean a curious 9 year old can’t be buying a movie without knowing what they’re doing? “But daddy, I saw it on Plex.”

EDIT
I guess that comment from bigwheel hopefully means that cannot happen.

As far as it continuing to ask your services are you all seeing this mostly on Android clients. If so I believe that should be fixed in an upcoming 9.0.2 that should be on google play later today. and amazon as soon as they approve

I would love the ability to disable any of the not selected services in search results as I dont have them. Why would I want to see whats on them if I have no interest of using them.
