FireTV crashes when browsing episodes

I hope I don’t get beat up for posting to the wrong section. I also apologize if I am giving the wrong info, etc. This is a strange issue, I’ll share the story below, but here is my app’s crash report, as found after re-creating the issue - http://192.168.1.25:32500/logging

This is weird and hard to explain

On my server, I have Yellowstone. On both - a first generation fire tv box (which I am looking at replacing) and a firestick, both with current plex installed - when I go to pull up Yellowstone, then I chose any of the seasons, this happens on all of them, it loads up the episodes then the plex app crashes once the episodes load. I am dumped back to the amazon fire interface at that point. Regardless of which season I pick

What makes it super odd is I have access to a friend’s plex server who also has Yellowstone on the same device - his shows and seasons all load and pull up without issue. I can look at and scroll through all the different episodes and even play them.

Browsing MY server’s Yellowstone with any / all other devices, roku, web browsers, etc - load my Yellowstone without issue. It’s only crashing out the amazon devices. My mother… who I got the first generation fire TV long ago and she loves and is used to and accustomed to using - - can not watch her favorite TV show and OMG this is causing a lot of undue stress. I’m over here readying a firestick to replace that old first gen fire box, as its throwing random errors on other apps I can not reproduce, except this damn Yellowstone one, which is the majority of why I am replacing the device in the first place and here I am with the same issue to begin with… grrrrrrr!

I’ve tried moving the files from one storage space to another with no dice. Turned off the theme music, no avail. I’ve moved the files to where Plex can not see them, the show was removed from the library - re-added, nope. I’ve no clue how MY server’s instance of Yellowstone would crash out an app, where my friends iteration of the same show works without issue. I don’t know if I got a database error, or what, much less how to go troubleshooting this one out.

I never set it up, but I have checked and made sure that under the server’s settings > extras, I have no cinema trailers or pre-rolls enabled.

And again just to be clear, on the fire TV devices, I can pull up Yellowstone as a show, see that it has 4 seasons, I can pick any of those seasons, but once the episode pull up, thats where it crashes.

All other shows, movies, specials, etc - work without issue from Plex. It seems to be this one… show. Any help is welcome, thanks.

I’ve been having something similar.

I have seasons 1 and 2 of “Titans” in my library. I have no issue browsing through the episodes when I use Plex on my desktop computer, my cell phone, or when I use the Plex app on my PS3. Trying to move over from one episode to the next while using Plex on the FireTV Stick causes Plex to crash. This happens repeatedly, but only on certain shows.

It also happens in my movies folder. I have watched the entire Evangelion series and movies, but I was trying to play “Evangelion: 3.0+1.0” and it crashes Plex.

Update: For the Evangelion movie, I discovered that changing to the first audio stream and turning off subtitles will sometimes get the movie to play. However, trying to change either back during play immediately kicks me out of the movie.

I’ve been having an issue with Plex loading up on my FireTV stick starting last night. Still not loading up this morning either. It gets into the app but the spinning wheel keeps spinning and doesnt load my home screen properly.

Tried resetting my stick, restarting my plex media server, nothing.

For what it’s worth, my Amazon Echo devices are also having trouble opening Plex. the issues began yesterday as well.

Thanks for the replies, guys. I could be wrong, but I do not believe that the issue I am dealing with is the exact issue either of you are.

doctormobius - you are able to browse the episodes where mine crashes at that point, I think you are getting an extra click in where I am not, unsure.

mougats - Your plex isn’t opening at all where mine is

By no, no means am I dismissing or making light of your issues, I am not certain that they are the same issue I am dealing with. Have you guys retrieved and posted the logs?

I am super hoping for a response from a dev or someone able to make heads or tails from the log provided who can tell me what to do so I can watch Yellowstone, thanks

I’ll add myself to the list.

Same experience is happening on my Amazon devices. IOS and ROKU do not have this happening.

It is hit and miss, but Yellowstone is one that is doing it. It brings up the show,–>I can see the seasons–>click on the season you want, season opens and lists the episides–>you can move one episode over either way -->the app crashes back to the Amazon main screen.

I have the same issue with Grey’s Anatomy. Just going into a season’s folder and scrolling between episodes will crash back to the home screen. It’s so annoying!
