Hello, posting as requested.
My firestick plex app closes itself when I try and scroll to a particular episode of a show, the season folders are fine, but when selected a season, it will happily go past episodes marked as played, but closes the second I press along to an unwatched episode. All other functions seem to work, movies, live TV, it is only happening on shows.
So when you say tracking internally, what does that mean Dave? Are you following my logs?
I am still experiencing this issue. I wonder if it may be relevant, my main hard drive I’ve been using for a while works perfectly, it is only on an additional drive, and when trying to access shows direct from my pc I’m having the problem… I cant see how it should make a difference though as plex works great on my tablet and phone
Having exact same issue. Navigating through episodes crashes app as soon as I highlight an unwatched episode. Workaround - start at a previously watched one, and then fast forward through it to start playing the unwatched one that you want to see. Hopefully a fix soon.
I also have been experiencing exactly the same issue for last couple of months, tried updating to latest version, uninstalled and reinstalled the App on my Firestick. Also updated the Server version. Still no success.
I’m still hopeful that something might get done about it, all other platforms work fine, even the xbox. Which is surprising as it can’t handle live TV from my HDhomerun lol… that’s not a plex issue though… just Microsoft
I’ve not heard anything back, hope something is in the pipeline… you start to wonder if you did something wrong don’t you? Like you said, others are experiencing the same issue so at least there is some ratification that it’s not a mistake on your part.
I’m also hopeful they bring back automatic downloads of subtitles, but that’s another thread
It is an issue across all shows, however it doesn’t surprise me if you are having issues with 1 in particular, I know some players can have problems with specific codec/formats sometimes. Fingers crossed there is a fix soon
I am having the exact same issue on at least one show on all of my fire sticks. I hope there is something in the works because I would really like to be able to watch some episodes with my kid and this is putting a damper on that.
Has anybody tried creating a new managed home profile? While not ideal, I made a new managed home user profile and while logged in to that I don’t seem to have the episode selection issue anymore.
Perhaps we’re experiencing some sort of profile corruption?
Navigating through random TV Show library episodes crashes app when signed in as same Managed User on 2 identical Fire TV Stick’s (2nd Gen) running version Fire OS 5.2.8.4 (672751320) and Plex version 8.25.0.28665.
Problem does not replicate on either stick when signed in as Guest, or, with a Friend account.
Nor does problem replicate on a Fire TV (3rd Gen) or any of 3 Roku devices either. All 6 streaming devices operate on the same LAN accessing the same Plex Media Server.
No luck clearing data, cache, or even reinstalling Plex app.
Evidence tends to support chab09’s “profile corruption” assertion. Nevertheless, I don’t have a Plex Pass (and do not want one), so I can’t create a new Managed User account as a workaround.
I have just created a new managed user profile and I can CONFIRM that the problem doesn’t replicate when using the second user profile!
So PLEX, what is going on?
A few issues remain while using this work around…
I can’t get my live tv and dvr, and also any progress of seasons is starting from scratch, small pennies to count as the crashing has ceased. If I want live tv I just switch accounts, it’s easy enough… @chab09 thanks for the heads up, and @steve_levitt_hotmail_com you don’t need a pass to create a profile, I don’t have one… select your name at the top of the screen on the left, above where it says home and hit the plus button
Thanks, noeljameslangstaff_gmail_com. I hadn’t thought of using the client app to do so. The the verbiage on the plex.tv/web interface misled me. Ignoring the warning, I was able to create the new managed user that way.
BTW, are you running the same Fire TV Stick model and OS version as mine?
