FireTV Cube HEVC file playback issue

Server Version# 4.47.3
Player Version# 8.110.22186 Default player & Exo Player V2

I converted a large collection of videos from x264 to HEVC a while back to save space on my media server.
I tested everything and they played fine everywhere.
Then a while back (Can’t remember when exactly) they started having a playback issue on all my FireTv Cube devices.
They try to direct play and the audio is fine but the video displays a frozen image for a second and then jumps to another frozen frame and then another, etc…
I have to go in and convert automatically to be able to watch it.

MediaInfo for one of the videos

Getting the same issue here, as of around November/December 2020. Audio plays, but video is about 1 frame per second, or less.

My Plex server runs on a Synology NAS (1.21.2.3939) and the Amazon devices are a Fire TV Gen 3 (Pendant) and the Fire Stick Gen 2 with the same firmware, both with Plex client 8.11

The files that have this issues for me are HEVC with EAC3 audio. Everything else plays fine.

There was a major Fire TV firmware revision then too though.

All other devices play these files, Smart TV, iPad, etc. So I know it’s a Fire TV issue.
