hey i have been experiencing stuttering at the beginning of movies when i play items from the home screen of plex. Only fix is to exit out of the app and reload. This doesn’t happen when i go into a library and play from there. It only happens when i play from recently added movies and recently released. I’ve been experiencing this issue for about the last two months. I’ve updated the plex app to the latest betas and this still happens. Even with the new android enhanced video player enabled this still happens. I posted on Reddit and others said they experience the same issue. I am not transcoding everything is direct playing. All of this just started around the 1.18 server update im guessing.

I am running the latest server update, and I have both versions of the Fire Stick 4K (The older generation and the newer generation that just came out a month or two ago), and neither exhibits this issue… If I had to guess, it would be something database wise prepping the movie and sending it over… since it’s not transcoding that’s about the only thing I can think of that would cause stuttering… What’s your CPU usage just after pressing play? does it spike for a moment?
I have buffering, wheel spinning on my Fire TV stick 4K (June 2019). It’s frequent… avg 1-3 min intervals. PC: i3-3.4Ghz/8GB/SSD/ CPU utilization ~35-50% during playback. All media coded to native format which shouldn’t require transcoding on the playback. I am running the Fire TV stick on cat6 using the Ethernet adapter, connection coming off a 5 port switch. Also off that same switch is a Tivo Roamio (3+ yrs old now) Same IP range, same switch… Tivo doesn’t have any buffering, pausing… errors in playback of exact same file. Seems to me to be the app’s inability to run on the weak hardware in the Fire TV. Tried rebooting ALL devices mentioned… conclusive… Tivo = fine… Fire TV is poo…
