Firewall Country Blocking and Plex

I am considering implementing country blocking in my firewall, to limit the amount of world-wide script-kiddies and other hackers access to pound my Plex  or simply hide it completely behind a VPN connection.

But I am a bit concerned about blocking Plex´ own servers. I tried finding documentation or an overview of how and when Plex servers might initiate contact to my servers?
And if they do:

  • For what (thinking this happens when enabling remote access)?
  • From where (does a complete plex.tv server list exist)?

Anyone?

If you wish to be as specific as possible and only allow Plex’s servers. Look at Plex.tv and the Amazon domains (domain level allow). This is what you need allow in addition to any other sites / addresses you may wish to allow in.

Hmm need to investigate whether I can block on DNS domains.

Allow inbound connections from Ireland as Plex.tv operates some services out of an Irish AWS datacenter.
