Fix for Plex HTPC stuttering / laggy playback issue on certain 4K content, please upstream

  1. Use one of those versions =>
    Dolby TrueHD passthrough - modified mpv build - #225 by Mitzsch
  2. For testing, it doesn’t matter what version you choose.
  3. The downloaded zip file contains all the files needed
  4. Open the zip and enter the folder with “-dev-” in its name.

  5. There you will find the mpv-2.dll
  6. Go to the Plex HTPC install dir and change the mpv-2.dll you find there to mpv-2.dll.orig (just for having it)
  7. Copy the mpv-2.dll from the downloaded zip and copy it to the Plex HTPC install dir, then launch Plex HTPC and test playback. No mpv.conf is needed at this point. Please test with hw decoding enabled.

Note: Don’t use mpv.dll from upstream mpv - it will not work as there have been changes made to how files are loaded that are incompatible with Plex.
