Fix Incorrect Match - Show Director info

I’ve noticed lately that there are several movies with common names, where there might be two or more movies in the database with the same name, and same release year. If you could add Director info to the Fix Incorrect Match popup selection list this would eliminate the need to blindly guess which movie it is you are trying to find the metadata for.

This is a good idea that I do not remember ever having seen asked for before.

For some reason my copy of “Out of the Darkness” (With Martin Sheen) just recently got mismatched to an apparently kid’s ghost movie of the same name and release year. When I went to “fix incorrect match” the first try was a single match to the wrong movie. After several tries I finally was able to find the correct data but it should not have been that hard. A director’s field or an actor field would have simplified that task tremendously.

The .nfo file trick
helps in these rare cases.
It has the added benefit to work without user interaction if for some reason you rebuild your library, because it involves a file being saved to your media folder which kinda “cements” the right match.

That is a solution that will not work for me as I do not use sub folders for each movie. But for those that do I guess it is a work-around. But work-arounds should not be needed as the fix is one little field. Also Plex should NEVER unmatch a movie or TV show that is already matched unless it is explicitly told to but it did for me. But that is another topic.

I would also really like this. I think this screenshot nicely demonstrates how inadequate the current list can be:
