Fix Playlists reordering

Can something be done about Playlists. If you go to move songs around it is very tedious. Songs should be in a multiple column display, that way you can move the order of songs around easier. As of now single row takes up way too much dead space. Split the song lines into at least 2 columns or even better 3. Alot of wasted space and is hard to move items around… Thanks All.

Adding to this,

It seems playlists over 300 are unable to be reordered (which should be fixed)

Also, it would be nice to reorder sections at a time, like grabbling 5-10 items that you have in the right order and moving them elsewhere in the playlist.

yes that would be good to move around as well… Playlist def needs some attention. trying to keep post alive…lol

I’m having the same issue on an audio playlist. Hopefully I can provide a little more context, and keep this thread open. In a previous post, a user pointed out the JavaScript error that occurs when trying to re-order longer lists.

The error they found is TypeError: Cannot read properties of undefined (reading ‘id’)
Looking at the (heavily minimized/obfuscated) code, it looks like it’s trying to get the id of the item after “drop”, but it’s not defined in the JavaScript object.

I saw a post from several years ago saying that you need to re-scan the library to fix it. I tried that, and waited for the scan to finish, but it didn’t immediately solve the issue. I also ran “Analyze” on the library, and it still didn’t seem to fix it after the analysis finished. However, I came back about 20 minutes later, and suddenly it worked again.
My best guess is that the database needed to be refreshed, and something was happening in the background that took a little longer than the front-end indicated.

Long story short, please try re-scanning and possibly analyzing your library, then give it a little while and try again. I’m not guaranteeing it will fix the issue, but it worked for me and has worked for others in the past.

Not sure if this is just conveniently timed, or if i did indeed post and it got merged wit this one…
Just to say, having the same issue, except im finding it consistently to be at 100 items no matter what i add… I will try the Analyze option once ive rescanned my media.

Curious, so i did the analyze trick (also a couple of times, and then left it a day and i can reorder anything in that playlist, i just deleted that playlist because (as per the other suggestion i had 50+ things to move from position 949 to around 105 (to build it back up by album/series etc) and its lost the ability again, about to re-flash the analyze, not sure why that would help though, but I’m betting it will… seems odd, because when you said run analyze i was wondering if something about playlists was caching/storing an old id (I’ve moved media a lot)… but if that was the case, it wouldnt have started failing again on a new playlist
