Is it possible to make streaming of FLAC music from a RPi5 on Debian with Plex Server to the USB B DAC integrated of my Hifi amplifier for local listening on my speakers ?
I want to be able to use Plex to stream music like Volumio, Moode Audio Player, etc. does. I want to be able to select music to stream via web browser or a smartphone app to stream it to my local Hifi system.
RoPieee are not compatible with RPi5 for the moment as Moode and PiCorePlayer.
Can Plex do this ? It is easy to install and use and it does not come with an OS, which suits me…
Volumio, the only one OS reader currently compatible with RPi5, but it uses Debian 10 which has not been patched on the security side for 2 years except for the kernel ;-(
Can Plex replace Volumio and do the same thing as it, as explained in my first post ??

After installing Plexserver, is it possible to use a smartphone or internet browser as a remote control to play a piece of music on the Plexserver on its own sound card and speakers ?
Plex server is not a player. If you want to use the same machine which runs your plex server as a player, you need to install a Plex player software onto it.
Like for instance Plexamp, if this is about audio only.
See the two threads below. The first mentions running Plexamp headless on a Raspberry Pi. The second mentions using a USB DAC.
You can use Plexamp on your phone to cast to Plexamp on the Pi.
As @OttoKerner mentions, you will need to run Plex Media Server to stream the music files to Plexamp. PMS can run on a RPi (and many other platforms). I do not know if it can run on the same Pi as Plexamp (there may be OS or hardware constraints).
