FLAC playback using PlexAmp

Hi,

I am running PlexAmp and trying to play FLAC files and the playback is off. Sounds like one channel isn’t coming through properly. I have tested the file using multiple devices ( iphone 13 and Windows 11 PC) and it plays the same issue on both. When using alternative apps (VLC, Windows media player etc) it plays back fine.

Any ideas what is going on? Is FLAC playback problematic with PLexAMP. It does the same thing on the standard Plex app too.

My plex media server is running on my Nvidia shield pro and is on the latest version.

Please post a plex media info of the FLAC file.
You can also use MediaInfo

Looking at the media info I think I may have already figured out what is going on:

The info shows the FLAC file is surround sound, 6 channel (5.1)

I am guessing that PlexAmp doesn’t know how to play it properly or is converting it to stream and its not playing all the channels.

Plexamp is only playing the first 2 channels of 6.
A known issue. But unfortunately also not a priority bug, because of the rather low late of surround music users among Plexamp users.

That’s fair enough. Sorry, I labelled the files wrong and forgot they were surround sound. At least it makes sense and I know that PlexAmp is working, albeit it not with these kinds of files.

Hint: if you are running Plexamp on a Windows desktop computer with a 6-channel sound interface, you might even get surround sound out of it.
If you start the playqueue with a 6 channel file.
