I’ve invited my brothers and father to my plex server, they’ve created their own plex logins with their own emails and I’ve used the invite function to add them. While over at my brothers place last night, he logged in via web on PC and to my complete surprice, he was greeted with choosing the user he wanted to use after having logged in.
Is it just me or is this logic completely idiotic? Why would Plex allow a user to choose the admin login(mine), when just having logged in as someone invited to the system??
It appears you didn’t just invite them, sharing your libraries with them but you added them to your „Plex Home“ instead (this includes among other features an option allowing fast user switching).
I did, because I couldn’t share my live tv with them using “manage library access”. This should really be redone to disallow user switching or allow live tv to be shared as well in the manage library section… Either way, for my usecase it’s a complete fail as we have no shared devices…
You can set up each client to automatically log into their own account on each device (if this works for you, let me know and i’ll explain), which should work for quite a while. In fact, I haven’t had to select a profile on any device other than a web browser once I set this up, so it will work for quite a while.
If the ability to log into your account from theirs is deal breaking, then remove them from your home. They will lose access to your live TV, but there is no other option (as Otto said, legal reasons)
Why isn’t there just an option to disallow user switching? They all have their own devices, I am not going around “locking” their user individually to all their devices, that’s a terrible solution.
