Force AC3/Dolby Digital audio

Currently kodi has a feature which lets you force ac3/Dolby Digital audio transcode but using the plex app through kodi is unbearable!

Could we get a feature to force audio to transcode from e.g AAC or DTS to AC3 in the native app? Help a sonos brother out… PLEASE

I believe this works by enabling audio passthrough with optical and choosing AC3 when optical encoding setting appears. However, this setting is currently not working with the current version of Plex on Android TV. You’ll probably need to wait until they fix this or download an older version of Plex.

Thanks for response! Did already know this one and I gave it a go. It will allow you to play DTS and AAC formats but only in a stereo format unfortunately… Not 5.1 AC3 :pensive:

There’s something wrong with the current app that isn’t allowing multi channel AC3. Even with that aforementioned setting enabled it sends stereo sound. If you uninstall Plex and install the older version, you should be able to force AC3 using the method I mentioned previously. I’ve dealt with the same issue where the current version of Plex doesn’t push multi channel AC3 when playing AAC audio with the Optical Passthrough workaround. You’re going to have to test this setting out with the 8.23 version.

Thanks man! Top advice it worked like a charm. Installed 8.23 plex app and sonos app now displays 5.1 sound even when playing 5.1 AAC content.

Just in case someone else is having the same problem, i couldn’t get your version of the app to boot on my tv but the following one worked fine.
