Force AC3 instead of AAC?

Is it possible to force PMS to transcode a file to 5.1 AC3 instead of 5.1 AAC via OPHT?

Not exactly.

In Preferences > System > Audio Output

Enable Passthrough
Enable Dolby Digital (AC3) Capable receiver
Enable Dolby Digital (AC3) transcoding

I can’t find this last point.

you have to set the channel output to 2.0 to have it appear under the ‘enable Dolby Digital…’ Option.

They might be able to use a better transcoder. But its probably limited to 2.0 because of (old) licensing reasons.

I wonder if you could write your own profile to do it somehow (on the server side)?

Thanks for the responses. Not a huge deal. Was just playing with it and for a specific reason trying to force 5.1 ac3 (instead of aac–>pcm) output. Life goes on.
