I always have the same problem with the people that I share my library. If a file has 2 versions, 4K and 1080p, everyone plays the 4K version and then change the quality to 1080p.
This is no the best option, the server is transcoding a 4K file when a 1080p is already in the server.
I don’t want to spare my libraries like 1080p and 4K, the Plex handeling versions of the same files is great, but the selector is very hidden.
I explained to all my family and friends how to get to the “play version” button but NO ONE seems to get it… 
I will like that when any user plays a file, a popup show the different options of the file. In a mandatory way… not the 4K for default to avoid errors.
I think I see this in previous appleTV client versions, but it has disappear in new updates and I didn’t see it in any other platform.
My server is struggling because of this, and the solution is soooo easy.
